We often wonder how the universe was created out of nothing. What I will attempt to prove here is that there has never been, nor could ever be, a state of 'Absolute Nothing'. This will confirm that, in one form or another, the universe (this one and any other) has always existed. I will try to keep the explanations as simple as possible.

We imagine that, before the universe, there was nothing but a vast empty space. Yet, 'space' and 'nothing' are a conflict in terms. If there is a space, then there must be something in it, and this can be readily proven via the image below.

Let's say we've placed a baseball in the so-called nothingness of space, and then moved the ball from Point A to Point B. Here's the question: What filled in the area at Point A once the baseball no longer occupied it?

Well, something had to fill in that space (air, water, hydrogen, oatmeal). We cannot say that some form of Nothing filled in the space at Point A, because 'Nothing' does not have the qualities neccessary to fill in anything, anywhere, at any time. So, if something filled in the baseball-size hole at point A, then the state of Absolute Nothing cannot be said to exist. Though 'space' may be vast, it can never be empty.
